Last Weekend
Given the weather forecast wasn't good for Saturday, 45 and rain all day, and a few of the regulars had other commitments, I was thinking I would ride the trainer instead of the road. Jon and I were planning to drive up to the Blue Jackets - Nashville Predators game in the evening. We had talk about riding in the afternoon and then driving up to Columbus for the game, but with the rain, I assumed we would skip the ride. I had forgotten to mail my car registration renewal and my plates had already been expired for about a week. I decide to go down to the registrars office to get my sticker and get legal again. People watching, while waiting at the registrars office, is not quite as interesting as watching people at Wal-Mart, but its close.
When I got back to the house, at about noon, Karma said Jon had called and was on his way over to ride. I was really hoping he would call to say he was skipping the ride in the rain and we would just head straight up to the hockey game but we were going to ride. When Jon got to the house, we sat around and talked until 2:15. I don't think either one of us was in any hurry to get on with th ride but we finally made our way to the bike and on to the wet roads. It was just a light rain for most of the 2 1/2 hours we rode. I started to get a little cold at the end but it wasn't as bad as I thought it could have been. I'm glad we did the ride.
The Blue Jackets are a terrible hockey team. Its fun to go the the games and drink a couple of beers but I wish I could see them win now and then. After the game we walked over to O'Shaughnessy's for one more beer. The place was completely packed but we managed to get our drinks and hang out for awhile.
It was cold, foggy and raining on Sunday. No way I was going outside to ride, it was either the trainer or nothing. We spent most of the morning cleaning house and then ran to grocery for a couple of things. I climbed on the trainer at about 4:30. I managed to ride for an hour and half, doing a mix of one-legged drills and fast spin intervals.
