Last Week

I can easily become a big time couch potato this time of year. Sometimes I can't get motivated to do much more than watch TV all evening. That's how Monday was...work, eat, TV, bed...what a waste.

I did a Spinerval video, 'Uphill Grind', on Tuesday. I sandwiched the video workout between a 30 minute warm up and 15 minute cool down. An hour and a half total ride time.

I felt a cold coming on Wednesday...scratchy throat and a little stuffy but I decided to head to Wheelie Fun for the Wednesday night trainer session anyway. Its probably seems a little strange to anyone who happens to walk by the store. In the back are 8 or 10 grown men riding bikes in a semi-circle around a small TV. It is strange but who cares.

My cold had me relegated to couch potato status after work on Thursday.

I had left my bike to the shop on Wednesday after the ride. The seat post was stuck and I decided to let the experts get it loose. This is the second time I have had to ask the Wheelie Fun guys to try to loosen it for me. Without the Felt to ride on Saturday morning, I was going to have to get the Van Dessel road ready. Its been my trainer bike since the days got short. I was putting a good rear wheel on the bike when I noticed something about midway down the left carbon seat-stay. I looked closer and I could see a crack. The bike is toast. I'll leave it on the trainer for now but its trashed and can't be ridden on the road. My next task was figuring out what I was going to ride on the group ride on Saturday. I ended up putting road wheels and pedals on the 'cross bike. I'll ride it until I get the Felt road bike back. I had been thinking about getting a Ritchey Breakaway bike. With the Van Dessel unridable, I'm thinking I might get a Breakaway frame and build it up with the Van Dessle parts.
