Installing the Wireless PowerTap...It should be so easy
I put the PT on the bike on Sunday. There's really nothing to it, just put a tire on the wheel, put the wheel on the bike, mounting bracket on the stem and clip on the computer...no wires, no sensors, nice and clean. I'm such a spaz. I start with the wheel, I need rim tape...no problem, I'm sure I have a roll in my toolbox. Of course, I have no tape in my toolbox but hey I have a roll of electrical tape...that should work right?. I have a new tube (short stem of course), new tire, new cassette, I'm all set. Tube and tire installed but that stem looks way too short to pump but I know I can make it work. The stem is too short, I can't get the pump chuck on it. I'm sure I have a long stem tube in my toolbox. Who the hell put this 700X25 tube in my toolbox? I can't believe I don't have one new 700X23 long stem tube. I have to pull my spare tube out of my seat pack and use it. Finally, tire installed, cassette installed, wheel on the bike, I'm ready to mount the computer. POW! The damn tire just blew out. So, one wrap of electrical tape will not work as rim tape. I take the tire off and wrap the electrical tape three times, take a tube out of one of my other wheels, reinstall the tire on the wheel and wheel on the bike. On one of my trips to the garage for a new tube, Karma gives me a sarcastic, "How's it going down there?" You mean you can't tell everything it just great from all the swearing and banging I'm doing? I am ready to install the computer mount. No problems here, just zip tie the mount to the stem and I am ready to go. It took another 10 or 15 minutes to run through all the setups on the computer and it was all finished. It should be so easy but I'm a spaz.
