Another Long Saturday Ride and I have Power!
Rode out of Wheelie Fun with Jon, Jim and Dick at 8:00AM. I have the Felt FC1 back...I didn't have to ride the 'cross bike again this week. The temps were in the upper 30's...not bad for late January but the wind was something else, 15 - 20 mph out of the south. I felt like crap. This damn cough kept me up again on Friday night. I'm pretty much over the cold I had last week but this cough has kept me from getting much sleep for three days. If I'm upright, I don't cough but as soon as I lay down, I sound like a 50 year smoker with terminal emphysema. I think we had a decent ride. A little harder than some of the other Saturday rides we've done. The wind made for some tough going sometimes but I spent a lot of time on the front pulling or slogging alone. I actually rode a lot better than I felt. With the extra riding down to the shop and back, I ended up with 70 miles. Karma was at Kara's baby shower so I had the house to myself. I spent a good part of the afternoon parked on the couch.
My wireless PowerTap was in at Wheelie Fun. I have talked about getting some type of power meter for two years and finally pulled the trigger on the PowerTap. The 2.4 hub is built on a DT Swiss RR1 wheel...sweet. I went down to the shop at 5:00 to pick up the PowerTap. When I got there Bob, Dave and the guys were setting up to sort and stamp about 1100 fliers they are sending out for their big sale on February 24. I volunteered to put stamps on the fliers as Bob and Dave sorted through them to throw out names that were not getting a flyer. As far as I could tell, you are mailed a sale flyer if you bought something in the last year or if Bob and Dave were not holding some grudge against you. It was actually pretty funny to hear stories about why some of the customers were not being sent a sale flyer
