Happy New Year
I have to say, I am glad the holidays are over. Its always a lot of fun but I'm glad things can get back to normal. I can get back to a training and eating routine that won't leave me looking like the mutant offspring of the Michelin Man and Pillsbury Dough boy. I actually did manage a lot of self control. I didn't eat too many of Mom's cookies.

My calf has pretty much healed after I pulled it in the 'cross race on December 1. I ran on the treadmill for about 10 minutes the other day and the calf did hurt a little afterwords. I'll just stay off the treadmill from now on. I hate to run anyway.
The dark days and weather had kept me on the trainer for a couple of weeks. From what I hear, I tolerate the trainer better than most. Some evenings, I'll go to cycling.tv, connect the laptop to the TV and watch race footage. I can usually handle an hour or an hour and a half pretty well.
I got out for some long road rides over the New Year's weekend. I rode the 10 miles from home to meet Rob, Todd, Doug and Scott at Hoover Dam on Saturday afternoon for a ride. By the time I got home I had 75 miles. I turned off to head home alone for the last 10 miles. I had tunnel vision on the last 5 miles... just thinking about getting home and eating everything in sight. Rob, Glen and I met at Hoover again for a ride on Sunday. Glen turned off early to head back while Rob and I finished with a good 45 miles. I was back to Hoover Dam on Sunday to meet Rob again. We got another 55 miles in the legs. My legs were feeling pretty dead on New Years Day. I was actually glad to see temps in the 20's and 25 mph to 35 mph winds. It gave me a good reason to take the day off.
