What did he just say??

About 15 of us were on our Wednesday night group ride last week. We stopped at the BP station in Morrow to regroup after someone had flatted. As we are waiting, a shirtless guy, who was standing by one of the gas pumps, comes walking toward our group and says "Tell me something, why is it they spent all that money on a bike path and you guys still ride on the road". I was nearest to him and turned directly toward him and said, "Don't even start with that...". He must have realized he hit a nerve and he was out numbered 15 to one because he then grinned and said "Come on, I'm just jokin' with ya" and reached out to shake my hand. I don't remember for sure but I think he prefaced his next remark with "I'm not a racist or nothin' but..." usually when someone says something like that, what follows is not going to be good and it wasn't in this case. He continued with "Why is it you never see any spooks riding bikes out here?". Before anyone could say much of anything he continued on with a racist joke and dropped the 'N' word a couple of times. At that point, we all decided to turn around ride back to find the stragglers. Hopefully, this guy has not reproduced and infected the human gene pool with his DNA.
