I actually came closer to being hit by deer than by cars this week. In fact, most drivers were pretty cool this week. On Friday, I was riding through a four way stop in Sunbury. I waited my turn to pull through the intersection and ended up behind a pick up truck. The truck was actually doing the posted 25 mph, allowing me to roll up to within a few yards of its bumper. I rolled along, behind the truck, barely applying pressure to the peddles. As we headed out of town, the speed limit changed to 45 mph. Instead of quickly speeding up and pulling away, the driver slowly increased his speed, allowing me to hang a few yards off his bumper. I assume he was doing this on purpose, since I saw him glance in his rear view mirror a couple of times. We rolled along a nearly 40 mph for awhile until I got a bit paranoid. I started to worry that he would slam on his brakes and send me flying into his tailgate. Finally, I gave him a wave and let him go.
I had my close encounter with the deer during the 70 mile ride I did on Saturday. I was riding along and just caught some movement, from the woods on my right. A second later, two deer cross the road right in front of me. If I had been a second faster, I would have gotten nailed.

Saturday's ride included Morrow County gravel roads.
