Friday - Tuesday
Please bear with me on this blogging stuff. I will get the hang of it and it will get better...I promise.
I had planned to do a quick hour on the trainer Friday (01/06/06) night but we had new bedroom furniture delivered earlier in the day. Karma brought a birthday cake and six pack of beer home for me. She dropped the beer in the driveway. Luckily, only two bottles broke. I spent the evening rearranging and positioning the bedroom furniture, eating pizza, eating cake and drinking a couple of beers. I did feel guilty about not riding the bike.
I was up early on Saturday and rolled out on the bike at 7:45. I rode down to the Wheelie Fun Bike Shop to see if anyone showed up for a long ride. Its about a 4 1/2 mile ride to the shop. Usually its a nice warmup but it was only 28 degrees when I left the house. I didn't notice the cold too much once I got rolling. Dr. Jon was the only one to show up for the ride. Jon's a good Cat 2 racer and we usually have the same type of ride in mind when we meet for a training ride. We end up doing a 4 hours ride, not too hard but we did throw in a few hills to up some of the intensity.
Karma and I drove up to Mom's on Sunday. We stopped in Columbus to pick up Kara. Its right at a two hour drive from our house to Mom's. We talked in the kitchen while Mom finished fixing Sunday dinner. The whole time I expected Dad to come up from his shop in the basement but of course, he never did. I really miss him. My brother stopped by and we helped Mom fill out a few life insurance forms. We got home at about 7:30. I was again thinking I should get on the bike for just a short spin on the trainer but I never made it.
As most everyone says, "Mondays suck". I work at home so you might think Mondays wouldn't be as bad, but they are. I signed on at around 7:15 and worked through most of the day. It was cloudy and a little windy with temps around 40 outside. I decided to get out on the road for a training ride at 3:30. I had planned to ride two hours but when I finally rolled out at almost 4:00, I knew it would be too dark to ride until six. I rode just over 1 1/2 hours. I did a few AT intervals on the hills. It was a good hard ride. I sat back down at the computer to work at around 7:00 and and called it quits at around 8:30.
On Tuesday, Jon called to see if I could get away for a ride in the afternoon. I thought I might be able to manage it but work stuff came up and I couldn't get away. It started to rain at around 2:00 anyway. I hope Jon didn't get too wet. I didn't get on the trainer until almost 8:00 PM. I finished watching the 2005 Paris-Roubaix video and listened to AC/DC on the headphones until 9:30.
