I read the story on several web sites about the two cyclists in California who were hit and killed by a sheriffs deputy. Like most cyclists, I have a ton of stories about close calls with stupid drivers or maybe smart drivers who do stupid things. I've had very few run ins with drivers since moving up here almost a year ago. In fact, only one really comes to mind. Maybe because it just happened today. I was just finishing a 2 1/2 hour ride. As I was rolling up to a stop sign in Galena, I nearly got a right hook from a pickup truck that blow right through the stop sign, on the left side of the road. Definitely a stupid driver. I won't go on about how vulnerable cyclists are when on the road. We all know that we are at the mercy of the person behind the wheel. I really try not to think about it. Otherwise, I might just stick to the bike path or not ride at all.

Despite the close call with the truck...what a great week. The time change and decent enough weather to get out on the road. Only one roller ride and five days on the pavement. Good Stuff.
